Dr. Steve J. Kulich(顾力行)is Resident Intercultural Communication Foreign Expert, Researcher and Teacher/Trainer at SISU(上海外国语大学)since 1993. Working in Asia since 1979.

Founding Professor of the Intercultural Communication research direction in the College of English (MA, 2002), of the College of Journalism and Communication (undergraduate course, 1999; MA, 2009), of the cross-cultural courses in the SISU MBA program (2010), and doctoral advisor of SISU’s Intercultural Communication Studies PhD (since 2010).

Founder and Executive Director of the SISU Intercultural Institute, established in 2006. Appointed 211 Research Professor (2010-2012). 

Fellow (since 2004) and elected Board Member (2011-2015) of the International Academy of Intercultural Research (IAIR). Organizing co-host of four international conferences.  Primary Investigator of multiple research grants including five from Resource Exchange International (related to ”Advancing Intercultural Communications in China” since 1995), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, 2007), the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, 2009-2010), the SISU Office of Academic Research (“Intercultural Research Series” 150,000 RMB key project, 2007-2010), and the Shanghai Ministry of Education (for developing an “All-English Intercultural Communication Course” 2010-2012).

A frequent consultant/ trainer for multinationals, including projects for Kone, Nike, DHL, GM/SAIC, Rockwell-Collins, SC Johnson, Fed-Ex, Saint-Gobain, Yaming/Philips Lighting, FESCO.
